Nexus One Filters Out Swear Words
Posted on 31 January 2010
The information may make a few of you delighted while sadden a few others. Nexus One is made to block any profanity used. That is the speech-to-text recognition option doesn’t permit the user (speaker) to post out any swear words. In its place, the phone changes those words into a group of #. That is when you type a five lettered swear word, the device will show up your message something like this #####.
The reason for this is that in Android driven gadgets, speech to text recognition is yet not absolutely perfect. The system can sometimes misrecognize the spoken word and return some other word. Which may only bring on misunderstandings at the receiving side. And because of this, Droid phone too has exactly the same problem (for some).
This is not the first time profanity is being filtered out, Zune HD is as well doing the same thing with its twitter application. In case you do not know what Zune is, it is a MP3 Player from Microsoft and it was first introduced in the market in 2006. And just last Dec, Zune came out with their twitter application which blocks any swear word used. This is one reason (as well as other) why not everyone likes their Twitter app.
In addition to this, among many Nexus features that do not go along well with users is the four control keys at the foot of the Nexus phone. The reason being the buttons work only when upper half of it is pressed, which can be slightly troublesome. Also, under the sun rays the display is not see-able. These are few of those flaws which users who have had hands-on encounter with Nexus reported.
And the no-profanity quality is in a way good one. Though a few of them will dislike Nexus One for staying a civilized device. For more details read Nexus One Blocks Swear Word
