Will T-Mobile Score With IPhone 4 This Year?
Posted on 10 September 2010
Apple may not be recalling the iPhone 4, but it certainly is not as the business is strapped for cash. PC Magazine reports that Apple’s fiscal third quarter for 2010 was a fantastic success, in no small part due to sales of the iPad. Apple made $ 3.25 billion net profit on revenue of $ 15.7 billion. Yet that may not even be the most explosive news coming out of the land of Steve Jobs. A “highly placed source” claims T-Mobile may take on iPhone 4 sales by the third quarter of this year, as outlined by Cult of Mac. Furthermore, PC World reports that this merger is 80 percent certain.
T-Mobile would become a player if iPhone 4 comes over
T-Mobile would surely rise to the top within the U.S. with iPhone 4. Frequency issues could get in the way, indicates PC World. As the carrier uses a non-standard band (1700/2100 MHz) and it is unknown whether the iPhone 4 will work at the lower end of T-Mobile’s frequency range, there might be major reception issues.
Could simply be an additional iPhone 4 rumor, you know
PC World writes that Cult of Mac has missed the mark numerous times before, so don’t count your iPhone 4 chickens before they’re hatched. Considering the network cap issues Apple has encountered with AT & T (and also the relative animosity Verizon has shown toward Steve Jobs and crew), it could possibly be that T-Mobile has the bandwidth to spare for iPhone users and an as-yet clean and clear relationship with Apple. Since Apple is already in cahoots with T-Mobile parent company Deustche Telekom in Europe, possibly T-Mobile has its foot within the door already.
Do T-Mobile waters look good to you?
It should be noted that when T-Mobile may not have the network troubles of an AT & T at this point, snaring iPhone 4 would likely change their set of circumstances quickly. Besides antenna problems, iPhone 4 is quite attractive to tech buyers. It is the most severe competition for Droid and other top smartphones. But possibly you see it differently; let us know.
